What is GMAT?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a globally recognized standardized exam designed to assess the skills required for success in business and management programs. Conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), the GMAT evaluates a candidate’s critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical writing, and data interpretation skills.

A high GMAT score is crucial for gaining admission to top MBA and business programs worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

With the introduction of the GMAT Focus Edition, the exam has been shortened while maintaining its core difficulty level, ensuring an enhanced testing experience.

There are no strict eligibility criteria for the GMAT, as anyone can take the test. However, candidates should consider the admission requirements of their target business schools.

Recommended Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: While not mandatory, most candidates hold an undergraduate degree.
  • Valid Passport: Required as a primary identification document at the test center.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old(candidates aged 13-17 require parental consent).

The GMAT Focus Edition consists of three sections:

1. Quantitative Reasoning

  • Number of Questions: 21
  • Question Types: Problem Solving
  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Score Range: 60-90

2. Verbal Reasoning

  • Number of Questions: 23
  • Question Types: Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning
  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Score Range: 60-90

3. Data Insights

  • Number of Questions: 20
  • Question Types: Data Sufficiency, Table Analysis, Multi-Source Reasoning, Graphics Interpretation
  • Time: 45 minutes
  • Score Range: 60-90

Each section contributes to the total score range of 205-805.

You can take the GMAT up to five times in a rolling 12-month period, with a  between 16-day gap between attempts.
